“Pink October" Movement

Today, I finish the round of articles related to cancer, in the context of the "Pink October" movement. This important movement originated in the United States of America, during the 90's of the twentieth century, to inspire change and mobilize society to fight against breast cancer. Since then, all over the world, the color pink is used to:

- Honor women with breast cancer.

- Raise awareness of prevention and early diagnosis.

- Support research in this area.

The main events related to this initiative are:

- October 13: World Day for Metastatic Breast Cancer

- October 15th: Breast Health Day

- October 30th: National Day for Breast Cancer Prevention

Five years later

Five years later, I can talk normally about this subject. I try to lead a more meaningful life.

In a way, I feel that cancer was an ordeal to bring out the best in me.

Today I focus my attention on what I consider to be truly important.

- I follow all the recommendations of my doctors.

- I exercise regularly.

- I pay attention to what I eat.

- I drink more water.

- I stay away from conflicts and toxic people.

- I deepen my spirituality.

- And, of course, I keep my creativity active, and you will have access here on the blog and social networks.

I can tell you that I have gone through numerous and profound internal changes. I am far from who I was.

When evil took hold of me,

Once a beast,

Today, a sweet jasmine.

Troubled metamorphoses,

Deep transformations,

Facing life new poses,

Beware of my emotions.

Light and hopeful,

For everyone, the future is uncertain,

I accept this pink phase,

It's all right!

 Movimento “Outubro Rosa”

- Homenagear as mulheres com cancro da mama;

- Sensibilizar para a prevenção e diagnóstico precoce;

- Apoiar a investigação nesta área.

Relacionadas com esta iniciativa as principais efemérides são:

·         13 de outubro: Dia Mundial do Cancro da Mama Metastático

·         15 de outubro: Dia da Saúde da Mama

·         30 de outubro: Dia Nacional de Prevenção do Cancro da Mama

 Cinco anos depois

Falando, agora, um pouco do meu caso pessoal, cinco anos depois, já consigo dialogar normalmente sobre este assunto. Procuro levar uma vida com mais sentido.

De certa forma, sinto que o Cancro foi uma provação para conseguir trazer à tona o melhor de mim.

Hoje foco a minha atenção para aquilo que considero verdadeiramente importante.

- Segui todas as recomendações dos meus médicos.

- Pratico exercício regularmente

- Tomo atenção aquilo que como.

- Ingiro mais água.

- Afasto-me de conflitos e pessoas tóxicas.

- Aprofundei a minha espiritualidade.

- E, claro, mantenho a minha criatividade ativa e vocês vão tendo acesso aqui no blogue e nas redes sociais.

Posso-vos dizer que passei por inúmeras e profundas alterações internas. Estou longe de ser quem era.

Quando o mal se apoderou de mim,

Outrora uma fera,

Hoje, um doce jasmim.

Atribuladas metamorfoses,

Profundas transformações,

Perante a vida novas poses,

Cuidado com as minhas emoções.

Leve e esperançosa,

Para todos o futuro é incerto,

Aceito esta fase rosa,

Está tudo certo!

Hope and Faith

Hello, as I announced on Friday last week, in today's article I'm going to tell you about hope and faith, two indispensable ingredients during the process of fighting cancer and in other trials that life offers us. 

Hope

I speak here of hope as a synonym of expectation that everything will work out in the end.

Despite the pain, the constraints, and the adversity, better days will come.

On this topic I wrote on April 11, 2017, the poem "Glass Half Full"  

Faith

As far as faith is concerned, it appears here as a synonym for a feeling of belief in something spiritual and as trust and credibility. On this aspect I also drafted a poem on July 24, 2017 - "I gain breath"  

Final observation

Faith and Hope are not exclusive positions in times of trial, but they are, without any shadow of a doubt, two especially important pillars to face adversity.

I hope that everyone who has access to this article will share it and be able to feel and trigger these two mechanisms to help you or those who need them.

A Esperança e a Fé

Olá, tal como anunciei na sexta-feira da semana passada, no artigo de hoje vou-vos falar da esperança e da fé, dois ingredientes indispensáveis durante o processo de luta contra o cancro e em outras provações que a vida nos oferece.

 A Esperança

Falo aqui da esperança como um sinónimo de expetativa de que no fim tudo vai dar certo.

Apesar das dores, dos constrangimentos e da adversidade, melhores dias virão.

Sobre este tema escrevi, por exemplo, no dia 11/04/2017 o poema “Copo meio cheio” 

A Fé

No que se refere à fé, ela surge aqui como um sinónimo de sentimento de crença em algo espiritual e como confiança e credibilidade. Sobre este aspeto também escrevi um poema em 24/07/2017 – “Ganho fôlego”

Observação final

A Fé e a Esperança não são posicionamentos exclusivos de momentos de provação, mas são, sem qualquer sombra para dúvidas, dois pilares importantíssimos para enfrentar adversidades.

Espero que todos os que tenham acesso a este artigo, o partilhem e consigam sentir e despoletar estes dois mecanismos para vos ajudar, ou a quem deles precise.

A dark tunnel hard to get through

Hello, the poem I bring to you today, is entitled: "A dark tunnel hard to get through", this was the name I gave to the period I went through in my personal fight against breast cancer. If you want to know a little more about my story, read last week's article by clicking here.

A dark tunnel hard to get through

I'm scared

I don't know if I'll survive

By life I was challenged

I have the will to win.

So much is left unbuilt

I need a new chance

If this disease doesn't destroy me

I will embrace a new reality.

Ahead I see dark

I can't even turn on a light

I keep a safe step

I cannot surrender.

For now, I accept fate

I try to trust

I go through foolish days

For life I continue to fight.

I'm in a dark tunnel

Hard to get through

Sometimes I rejoice

Because I choose to believe.
