EN: Hello! The Christmas apple, red and glistening, may seem like just another decoration or a simple treat. However, it carries with it ancient traditions and a profound symbolism of sharing and love. For me, it is proof that the greatest gestures lie in the smallest offerings.

In this poem, I explore the origins of this fruit in the Christmas context and invite you to reflect on the meaning of gifts that come from the heart, not the wallet.

PT: A Maçã de Natal

Vermelha e brilhante, na mesa pousada,

a maçã de Natal é fruto e memória.

Na simplicidade, uma lenda guardada,

um doce convite à velha história.

Era presente de tempo modesto,

gesto singelo, sem ouro ou festim.

Naquela maçã, o amor manifesto,

a oferta mais pura, um sinal sem fim.

Hoje reluz entre doces e luzes,

lembrando que o Natal verdadeiro,

está nos gestos simples, nos laços que fazes,

na partilha humilde, num abraço inteiro.

Red and bright, resting on the table, 

the Christmas apple is fruit and memory. In simplicity, a legend kept, 

a sweet invitation to the old story.

It was a gift from a modest time,

a simple gesture, without gold or feast.

In that apple, love manifest,

the purest offering, an endless sign.

Today it gleams among sweets and lights, 

reminding that true Christmas,

is in simple gestures, the bonds you make,

in humble sharing, in a whole embrace.

In this article, we will explore the magic of this charming flower, its meaning, and how it continues to illuminate our homes, warming our hearts on these cold December nights.

PT: Poinsétia de Natal

No silêncio do inverno,

um vermelho arde na janela,

folhas que dançam como fogo,

aquecem a alma e o olhar.

Poinsétia, flor das noites frias,

grinalda viva de esperança,

na casa onde os sonhos dormem,

ela desperta a lembrança.

Recorda-nos que a beleza,

brota do mais simples gesto,

um laço, um sorriso, um encontro,

num Natal que se faz manifesto.

Na ponta das suas pétalas,

segredos de outros tempos,

histórias que o coração canta,

em suaves tons de encantamento.

Poinsétia, estrela rubra,

marca páginas de afetos,

nasce humilde, cresce forte,

e o Natal torna mais perto.

a red burns in the window,

leaves that dance like fire,

they warm the soul and the gaze.

Poinsettia, flower of cold nights,

living wreath of hope,

in the house where dreams sleep,

it awakens remembrance.

It reminds us that beauty,

sprouts from the simplest gesture,

a bond, a smile, an encounter,

in a Christmas that becomes manifest.

On the tip of its petals,

secrets of other times,

stories that the heart sings,

in soft tones of enchantment.

Poinsettia, crimson star,

marks pages of affection,

is born humble, grows strong,

and makes Christmas feel closer.

PT: Olá! O mês de dezembro é, sem dúvida, um dos mais especiais do ano. É a altura em que as cidades se iluminam, os corações se enchem de esperança e o cheiro a canela e a pinheiro nos transporta de imediato para a nossa infância. E, para dar as boas-vindas a esta época mágica, hoje, 5 de dezembro, tenho o prazer de te anunciar o lançamento da segunda edição da Poesias da Nonô Zine, que se intitula Luzes de Natal.

Este zine é uma ode a tudo o que o Natal representa: a luz, a partilha, a reflexão e, claro, a poesia que nasce destes sentimentos. A nossa viagem por esta época estende-se para além do dia 25, prolongando-se até ao início do próximo ano, e a nossa celebração no blogue só terminará a 2 de janeiro, a primeira sexta-feira do ano.

Este é um convite a acenderes a tua própria luz interior e a deixares que a poesia te guie por este tempo de celebração.

EN: Hello! December is undoubtedly one of the most special months of the year. It's the time when cities light up, hearts fill with hope, and the smell of cinnamon and pine immediately transports us to our childhood. And, to welcome this magical season, today, December 5th, I'm delighted to announce the launch of the second edition of Nonô's Poetry Zine, titled Christmas Lights.

This zine is an ode to everything that Christmas represents: light, sharing, reflection, and, of course, the poetry that stems from these feelings. Our journey through this season extends beyond the 25th, lasting until the beginning of the new year, and our blog celebration will only end on January 2nd, the first Friday of the year.

This is an invitation to light your own inner light and let poetry guide you through this time of celebration.

PT: Olá!

Há momentos nas nossas vidas em que sentimos a necessidade de recomeçar. Não por falta de carinho pelo passado, mas por uma urgência de viver o presente com mais autenticidade. Para mim, essa urgência manifestou-se na minha poesia.

O poema que partilho hoje, "Rasguei os meus poemas", é um reflexo desse processo. Foi um ato de libertação, uma forma de deixar para trás o que já não ressoava com a minha verdade. É uma poesia sobre a coragem de nos olharmos no espelho, de reconhecermos a nossa história e de, com essa consciência, reescrevermos a nossa própria narrativa.

Espero que se identifiquem com a mensagem e que este poema sirva de inspiração para todos aqueles que sentem a necessidade de se reinventarem.

EN: Hello! There are moments in our lives when we feel the need to start over. Not out of a lack of affection for the past, but out of an urgency to live the present with more authenticity. For me, that urgency manifested itself in my poetry.

The poem I share today, "I Tore Up My Poems", is a reflection of that process. It was an act of liberation, a way to leave behind what no longer resonated with my truth. It's a poem about the courage to look at ourselves in the mirror, to acknowledge our history, and with that awareness, to rewrite our own narrative.

I hope you identify with the message and that this poem serves as inspiration for all those who feel the need to reinvent themselves.

PT: Rasguei os meus poemas

Um dia rasguei todos os meus poemas

para os escrever novamente.

Peguei na alma em pedaços,

soltei o que não era urgente.

Versos antigos caíram no chão

como folhas em fim de estação.

Alguns choraram nas margens,

outros pediram perdão.

Não rasguei por desprezo

foi um gesto de libertação.

Havia beleza, sim,

mas faltava-me o coração.

Recolhi as palavras nuas,

soprei o pó da intenção.

E com dedos de silêncio

voltei a escrever-me, então.

Agora cada poema respira

a verdade do que hoje sou:

pinceladas do momento

flor que brota e cicatriz que ficou.

One day I tore up all my poems

to write them again.

I picked up my soul in pieces,

let go of what wasn't urgent.

Old verses fell to the ground

like leaves at the end of the season.

Some cried on the margins,

others begged for forgiveness.

I didn't tear them up out of disdain

it was a gesture of liberation.

There was beauty, yes,

but I lacked the heart.

I gathered the naked words,

blew away the dust of intention.

And with fingers of silence

I returned to write myself, then.

Now every poem breathes

the truth of who I am today:

brushstrokes of the moment

flower that sprouts and scar that remains.
