EN: Poetry doesn't ask for permission, nor is it meant to soothe: it is a living territory of catharsis, voice, and attitude. I am M.ª Leonor Costa (Nonô) — writer, performer, and creator of Poesias da Nonô. I give body, sound, and presence to spoken word in Portuguese and English, inhabited by heteronyms navigating the visceral, the sacred, and the everyday. Step inside. Read with your body, listen with your skin, and inhabit this space.

Poesias Mundanas / Worldly poetry - Silêncio urbano / Urban silence

Imagem retirada da Internet e manipulada com/ Image taken from the Internet and manipulated with: https://photomania.net/editor
A cidade já acordou
As pessoas dirigem-se para o trabalho.
Instalada a azáfama rotineira
Os pés percorrem o soalho.

O semáforo está vermelho
Os carros tiveram de parar
O dia está escuro
E ainda não se atreveu a aclarar.

Que sossego paira,
Será algum engano?
Por momentos paro e escuto
O silêncio urbano…

Minha casa, Mem-Martins, Sintra, Portugal
Poema escrito a computador,
11 de abril de 2018,
18h46

The city already woke up
People go to work.
Installed the routine bustle
The feet go through the floor.

The traffic light is red
The cars had to stop
The day is dark
And yet he did not dare to clarify.

How quiet is it,
Is it some mistake?
For a moment I stop and listen
The urban silence ...

My house, Mem-Martins, Sintra, Portugal
Computer-written poem,
April 11, 2018,
6: 46 p.m.
