Diálogo entre poemas / Dialogue between poems: De Tarde / In the afternoon – Cesário Verde

À tarde (Nonô)

Sentados na esplanada
A saborear o momento
Sem fazer nada
Ganhando algum alento.

Observando quem passa
Para cima e para baixo
Sem fazer pirraça
Ao som do contrabaixo.

Bebidas frescas na mesa
Uns pratinhos de caracóis
Tempo passado com leveza
Para recordar depois.

Turistas vagueiam
Descontraidamente no chiado
Petiscos que se saboreiam
Com delicadeza e cuidado.

De Tarde (Cesário Verde – 1855-1886)

Naquele «pic-nic» de burguesas,
Houve uma coisa simplesmente bela,
E que, sem ter história nem grandezas,
Em todo o caso dava uma aguarela.

Foi quando tu, descendo do burrico,
Foste colher, sem imposturas tolas,
A um granzoal azul de grão-de-bico
Um ramalhete rubro de papoulas.

Pouco depois, em cima duns penhascos,
Nós acampámos, inda o sol se via;
E houve talhadas de melão, damascos,
E pão de ló molhado em malvasia.

Mas, todo púrpuro, a sair da renda
Dos teus dois seios como duas rolas,
Era o supremo encanto da merenda
O ramalhete rubro das papoulas.

In the afternoon (Nonô)

Seated on the terrace
To savor the moment
Nothing to do
Gaining some breath.

Observing who passes
Up and down
Without making prank
To the sound of the double bass.

Fresh drinks on the table
Some snail plates
Time spent lightly
To remember later.

Tourists roam
Chillingly relaxed
Snacks that taste
Gently and carefully.

Afternoon (Green Cesario - 1855-1886)

In that "picnic" of bourgeois,
There was something simply beautiful,
And that, without having history or greatness,
In any case, It would give a watercolor.

It was when you, descending from the donkey,
You were spoonful, without foolish pretensions,
To a blue granzoal of chickpeas
A red bouquet of poppies.

A little later, on top of some cliffs,
We camped, but the sun did not look;
And there were carvings of melon, apricots,
And wet bread in malvasia.

But, all purple, out of income
From thy two breasts like two turtledoves,
It was the supreme charm of the meal
The red bouquet of poppies.
