PT: Olá,
queridos leitores!
Ao
longo da minha vida tive o privilégio de conviver com muitos animais de
estimação — e de cuidar de tantos outros que se cruzaram no meu caminho. Alguns
viveram comigo, outros com os meus pais, e muitos encontrei pelas ruas, onde
lhes dei alimento, mimo, ou simplesmente um olhar atento e um registo
fotográfico.
Contei,
até hoje, cerca de 24 animais de estimação que adotei formalmente: hamsters,
porquinhos-da-índia, coelhos, cães e gatos. Cada um com o seu nome,
personalidade e história.
Mas
os que ajudei na rua são impossíveis de contar. Foram tantos! Alguns com fome,
outros com sede, medo, frio... Cada gesto de cuidado foi, para mim, um pequeno
poema.
Talvez
por isso tenha nascido o livro Animais Poéticos, como forma de
homenagear esses seres tão nobres e a ligação única que construímos com eles.
Cuidar
de um animal é um ato de amor, mas também de responsabilidade. É criar uma
família mais alargada e incluir nela quem não fala a nossa língua, mas entende
o nosso coração.

Cada
um destes nomes traz-me memórias e ensinamentos. Fico feliz por ter podido amar
e ser amada por todos eles.

Throughout my life, I have had the
privilege of living with many pets — and caring for so many others that crossed
my path. Some lived with me, others with my parents, and many I found on the
streets, where I gave them food, affection, or simply a watchful eye and a
photographic record.
To date, I have counted about 24 pets
that I formally adopted: hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, dogs, and cats. Each
with its own name, personality, and story.
But the ones I helped on the street
are impossible to count. There were so many! Some hungry, others thirsty,
afraid, cold... Every gesture of care was, to me, a small poem.
Perhaps that is why the book Animais
Poéticos was born, as a way to honor these noble beings and the unique
connection we build with them.
Caring for an animal is an act of
love, but also of responsibility. It is creating an extended family and
including in it those who do not speak our language, but understand our hearts.

Animais
são para cuidar,
com
ternura e devoção.
São
amor a respirar
dentro
do nosso coração.
Adotar
é um gesto belo,
dar
abrigo, dar calor.
Ser
o lar de um patudo
é
uma forma de dar amor.
São
presenças que aconchegam,
que
nos leem o pensamento.
São
silêncios que compreendem,
são
paz em qualquer momento.
Quando
partem, deixam marcas,
memórias
a aquecer o dia.
Mas
enquanto cá estiveram,
deram-nos pura alegria.

with tenderness and devotion.
They are breathing love
inside our hearts.
Adopting is a beautiful gesture,
giving shelter, giving warmth.
Being a home to a furry friend
is a way of giving love.
They are comforting presences,
who read our thoughts.
They are silences that understand,
they are peace in any moment.
When they leave, they leave marks,
memories to warm the day.
But while they were here,
they gave us pure joy.
